2026 Lexus IS: Facelift Brings Survival & New Features

1 min read

Introduction

The Lexus IS lives on for 2026 with its third major facelift, defying rumours of discontinuation. The model line is now consolidated into the IS350, dropping the V8-powered IS500 and focusing on the 3.5-litre V6 with refreshed exterior, interior upgrades, and enhanced tech and dynamic elements.

Design & Exterior

For 2026, the IS wears a revised front fascia with a more prominent grille reaching up to the hood’s leading edge. The F Sport trim receives a new rear spoiler and red brake callipers, while the F Sport Design introduces fresh 19-inch aluminium wheels. A new grey Wind colour joins the exterior palette, delivering additional metallic highlights.

Interior & Technology

Lexus has given the IS a full interior overhaul. The gauge cluster is now a much larger 12.3-inch digital display, and the infotainment screen has grown to 12.3 inches, replacing the outdated 8.0-inch unit. Climate controls are streamlined into a single row below the central screen, and vents now use trapezoidal styling. Materials have been upgraded, with forged bamboo trim and switchgear, plus an available Radiant Red interior for F Sport models. Charging and connectivity are improved with two USB-C ports front and rear, a wireless charging pad, and audio options ranging from a standard 10-speaker system to an optional 17-speaker Mark Levinson surround setup.

Powertrain & Driving Dynamics

The IS range is now exclusively the IS350, equipped with a 311-HP 3.5-litre V6 engine. Rear-wheel drive variants use an eight-speed automatic, while all-wheel drive variants employ a six-speed unit. This update also introduces electric power steering and revised suspension, aiming for a sharper steering feel and more responsive handling.

Market & Pricing In The UAE

The outgoing Lexus IS is priced between AED 185,000 and AED 255,000, depending on variant and specification. Given the model consolidation and upgrades, expect the 2026 Lexus IS350 F Sport Platinum and Prestige trims to be positioned at the upper end, likely starting from AED 225,000 to AED 255,000. This maintains the IS’s relevance in the UAE’s luxury sport sedan market, competing with the likes of BMW 3 Series, Audi A4, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

Conclusion

The 2026 Lexus IS continues the nameplate’s run thanks to significant styling and tech enhancements, albeit with a simplified lineup. With the V8 consigned to history, the IS now relies on its proven V6, modern cabin, and sharpened driving dynamics to appeal to enthusiasts and luxury buyers alike in the UAE. The model’s facelift and consolidation help it hold its position among premium sport sedans as Lexus prepares for its next move in the segment
