2026 Toyota GR86 Yuzu Special Edition

1 min read

The long-dead Scion brand has just been remixed again with the new Toyota GR86 Yuzu edition. This happens to be the 4th limited run variant of the brand’s 2nd-gen sports coupe. The Yuzu edition takes ideas from the Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0 of 2015. Scion was Toyota’s ambitious entry-level brand, which sold vehicles from 2004 to 2016, and the brand was axed soon after. The Scion FR-S got a 2nd life in the USA as the Toyota 86, which was the predecessor to the GR86.

Toyota GR86 Yuzu Edition Changes And Additions

The Yuzu edition sports a yellow paint shade and gloss black exterior accents, design elements which were prominent with the Scion brand. Further adding to this design language, with elements such as front seats with faux-suede inserts with yellow decor, and yellow stitching for the front seats, steering wheel, parking brake lever, and the doors. The Yuzu edition also offers accessory options that are aimed at giving owners a chance to relive their street racing fantasies. Some of the accessories that are being offered are a flashy body kit and a cat back exhaust, with 4 large silver tailpipe tips with the GR logo.

Apart from these changes, the Yuzu edition is essentially a spiced-up GR86 premium with the performance pack, which also adds Sachs dampers and Brembo brakes with painted 4-piston front and 2-piston rear callipers that work with a 12.8-inch front rotor and 12.4-inch rear rotor. The performance pack ranges from $1500 to $2020, depending on the variant.

Toyota GR86 Yuzu Edition Engine

The Yuzu edition is powered by the same 228 BHP 2.4-liter flat-four engine. This engine is offered with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Toyota plans to import only 860 units of the Yuzu edition to the USA, matching the production run of the 2nd-gen GR86’s prior 10th anniversary, Trueno, and Hakone editions.

Toyota GR86 Yuzu Edition Expected Pricing

Pricing for the full lineup of the 2026 GR86 still remains undisclosed, but one can expect a big price hike due to the recent government norms. If it weren’t for these rules and regulations, the GR86 can be expected to comfortably be under $32,000 and a little more for the Yuzu edition. All said and done, the Yuzu edition will definitely undercut a lot of its rivals, and even the car that it was inspired from, i.e, the Scion FR-S.
