Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut Retakes 0-400-0 KPH Record, Rimac Responds

1 min read

In an intense showdown of hypercar supremacy, Koenigsegg has reclaimed the coveted 0-400-0 KM/H (0–249–0 MPH) record just weeks after Rimac set a blistering benchmark. Markus Lundh, Koenigsegg’s factory driver, completed the feat in an astonishing 25.21 seconds behind the wheel of the 1,500-horsepower Jesko Absolut, beating Rimac’s previous record by 0.58 seconds. Alongside this, Koenigsegg established a new 0-250-0 MPH record in 17.18 seconds, reaffirming the Jesko Absolut as the fastest fully homologated production car in the world.

Performance Highlights

The Jesko Absolut accomplishes this with its factory-spec 5.0-litre Twin turbo V8 engine, delivering 1,500 horsepower and when running on E85 fuel. Remarkably, Koenigsegg achieved this record with rear-wheel drive, aided by new software enhancements including refined torque control for improved low-end traction and a faster-shifting nine-speed Light Speed Transmission. The car hit 249 MPH in just 16.77 seconds, and braking from 250 MPH to a standstill took only 8.49 seconds, demonstrating spectacular stopping power via carbon-ceramic brakes.

Records Set

  • 0–400–0 KM/H in 25.21 seconds
  • 0–400 KM/H in 16.77 seconds
  • 400–0 KM/H in 8.44 seconds
  • 0–250–0 MPH in 25.67 seconds
  • 0–250 MPH in 17.18 seconds
  • 250–0 MPH in 8.49 seconds

All times were verified by independent adjudicators from Racelogic at a still-drying Örebro airfield, under conditions Koenigsegg described as “sub-optimal,” hinting that even faster runs may be possible.

The Rivalry With Rimac

This record battle is the latest chapter in a friendly but intense rivalry between Koenigsegg and Rimac. It began with Koenigsegg’s 33.29-second 0-400-0 KM/H run by the Agera RS in 2017, which was lowered to 31.49 seconds by the Regera in 2019. Rimac entered with a 29.92-second record in 2023 using the all-electric Nevera and pushed it further to 25.79 seconds in July 2025, only to be outpaced by Koenigsegg’s recent effort. Koenigsegg CEO Christian von Koenigsegg hinted that their all-wheel-drive, 2,300-horsepower Gemera might soon challenge Rimac’s Nevera R, while this Jesko Absolut rear-wheel-drive record stands as a “magical achievement.”

Rimac’s Response

Rimac CEO Mate Rimac acknowledged the achievement on social media, expressing surprise that the Nevera R record was broken so quickly and sending a friendly challenge.

Final Word

Koenigsegg’s Jesko Absolut has set a new benchmark that underscores the extraordinary capabilities of combustion-powered hypercars even in an age of electric torque monsters. The duel with Rimac pushes the boundaries of automotive performance further each time, thrilling enthusiasts worldwide. As the quest to break the 25-second barrier continues, the race between Koenigsegg and Rimac promises to deliver ever more astonishing feats of speed and control in the years ahead.
