Introduction
Genesis, Hyundai’s luxury arm, continues to build momentum with a bold product expansion strategy. Announced at the 2025 Munich Mobility Show, the brand is preparing to launch new models including a rugged off-roader, a full-size luxury SUV, and a suite of hybrid and electrified offerings starting as early as 2026.
New SUVs On The Horizon

Key among Genesis’s plans is the introduction of at least two new SUVs:
- Off-Roader: Inspired by the adventurous X Gran Equator concept, this model will target outdoor enthusiasts seeking capability combined with luxury. It will likely emphasize advanced all-wheel-drive systems and tailored terrain modes for off-pavement confidence.
- Full-Size SUV: Drawing cues from the Neolun concept, the upcoming large SUV (possibly named GV90) promises spacious three-row seating and uncompromising luxury. While it may ride on the current EV-focused e-GMP platform shared with Hyundai’s Ioniq 9, future developments will lean on a new versatile architecture set for 2028, supporting ICE, hybrid, and EV powertrains.
Electrification & Hybridization
Genesis will debut its first hybrid vehicles in 2026, entering the critical electrification wave with conventional hybrids, followed by extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) capable of exceeding 600 miles of range through combined battery and gasoline engine operation. Potential hybrid powertrains may target existing models like the GV80 and GV70, supplementing their gasoline engines with electric motors to boost fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.
Performance Division & Expansion
The upcoming Magma sub-brand will further amplify Genesis’s performance credentials. The existing GV60 Magma model paves the way for additional high-performance vehicles, with plans extending into future grand touring and possibly convertible models. Genesis is also expanding its motorsport and racing efforts to strengthen brand cachet.
Market Growth & Future Vision
Genesis reached a significant milestone, surpassing one million global sales since inception less than a decade ago. The brand targets expanding into 20 or more markets worldwide, including possible entry into the Middle East and further penetration into Europe and North America. Both electrified and conventional models will carry the brand deep into the 2030s amid shifting consumer preferences and stricter global regulations.
Verdict

Genesis’s roadmap demonstrates a thoughtful blend of time-honored automotive strengths with forward-looking innovation in electrification, new model introductions, and aspirational performance branding. The late-2020s roster will deliver new SUVs, hybrids, and show cars that could reshape the luxury landscape, particularly in dynamic, fast-growing markets like the UAE and Gulf region.
