2026 Lexus IS Gets Another Refresh

2 min read

The Lexus IS is not going anywhere just yet. For 2026, Lexus has confirmed another refresh for its long-running sports sedan, extending its life in key markets such as the GCC. The update brings cleaner styling, a much-improved interior, and small mechanical tweaks, but it also simplifies the lineup and increases prices.

This marks the third facelift for the current-generation IS, which first debuted in 2014.

Lexus Keeps The IS Alive With A Third Facelift

For years, the future of the Lexus IS has been uncertain. The announcement of an IS500 Ultimate Edition for 2025 led many to believe the sedan was nearing the end of the road. Instead, Lexus has chosen to keep the model alive with another update, focusing on refinement rather than reinvention.

This decision makes sense for Middle Eastern markets, where demand for naturally aspirated luxury sedans remains stronger than in Europe or North America.

Lexus IS: Updated Exterior Design With Sharper Details

The 2026 Lexus IS looks familiar from the side, but the front end has been redesigned. A new grille now reaches higher toward the hood, giving the car a more aggressive and modern appearance. The headlights and bumper detailing have also been subtly reshaped to sharpen the overall look.

Trim-specific updates add more visual distinction. F Sport models receive red brake calipers and a small rear spoiler, while F Sport Design variants get new 19-INCH alloy wheels. Lexus has also introduced a new Wind exterior color, a metallic gray shade well-suited to GCC conditions.

Interior Overhaul Improves Technology & Usability

Inside, the 2026 IS receives its biggest upgrades. Lexus has replaced the smaller infotainment screen with a standard 12.3-INCH touchscreen across the lineup. This significantly improves usability and brings the IS in line with newer rivals.

A fully digital 12.3-INCH instrument cluster is now standard, giving the cabin a cleaner and more premium feel. The climate control layout has been simplified into a single row, while the air vents now feature a more modern trapezoidal design.

Material quality has also improved. Forged bamboo trim appears on the center console and switchgear, and F Sport models can be ordered with a Radiant Red interior. Practical updates include USB-C ports for front and rear passengers, wireless phone charging, and a choice between a 10-speaker Lexus Premium audio system or a 17-speaker Mark Levinson setup.

IS500 Dropped & Powertrain Details

One major change for 2026 is the removal of the IS500. Lexus has officially discontinued the V8-powered model, ending availability of the 472-HP engine. The lineup now consists solely of the IS350.

The 2026 Lexus IS350 continues with a naturally aspirated 3.5L V6 producing 311 HP. Rear-wheel-drive versions use an eight-speed automatic transmission, while all-wheel-drive models retain a six-speed automatic. Lexus has also added electric power steering and revised suspension tuning to improve steering feel and everyday responsiveness.

Lexus IS: Prices In The Middle East

Lexus has not yet announced official GCC pricing, but expectations are clear. The 2026 Lexus IS350 is likely to start at approximately AED 185,000 for rear-wheel-drive F Sport Design models. All-wheel-drive versions should command a premium of around AED 7,000 to AED 8,000.

Higher-spec F Sport trims with premium interiors and audio upgrades are expected to approach AED 200,000, depending on dealer options and regional specifications.

What This Means For GCC Buyers

The 2026 Lexus IS refresh keeps the sedan relevant in a market increasingly dominated by SUVs. While the loss of the V8 will disappoint enthusiasts, the updated interior, improved steering, and refreshed styling strengthen the IS350’s appeal as a reliable, naturally aspirated luxury sedan.

For GCC buyers who value long-term durability, comfort, and a proven V6 engine, the Lexus IS remains a strong and familiar choice, even as prices continue to climb.
