Aston Martin has unveiled the Valen, an exclusive performance car based on the Vanquish. The new model combines a more aggressive design with a lighter body, a louder exhaust, and a more powerful version of the twin-turbo V-12. Production will be limited to just 150 units.
Aston Martin Valen Gets A Meaner Design
The Valen keeps the Vanquish’s long-hood and short-deck proportions but gives them a much more aggressive appearance. A massive front splitter sits below slim headlights, while exposed carbon-fiber elements add a motorsport-inspired touch.
At the rear, the Valen features a large diffuser and four exhaust outlets. Two outlets sit inside the diffuser, while the other two are positioned higher on the rear fascia. Aston Martin says the titanium exhaust system is 50 percent louder than the Vanquish.
838-HP Twin-Turbo V-12
Power comes from the Vanquish’s 5.2-liter twin-turbo V-12. However, the Valen produces 838 HP, up from 823 HP in the standard car. It also weighs 243 pounds less than the Vanquish. Aston Martin estimates that the Valen can reach 60 mph in 3.0 seconds and achieve a top speed of 214 mph. An eight-speed automatic transmission sends power to the wheels, with shift programming inspired by the Vantage GT4 race car.
The Valen also gets 21-inch magnesium wheels and staggered Pirelli P Zero R tires. The rear tires measure an enormous 325 section width, giving the car a much wider footprint.
A More Focused Interior
Inside, the Valen takes a more minimalist approach than the luxurious Vanquish. The dashboard features 3-D-printed components, while customers can choose from several upholstery options and different exposed-carbon finishes.
The car doesn’t have a conventional rear window. Instead, a camera system provides the driver with a rearward view. The large exhaust system also reduces trunk space, so Aston Martin offers bespoke luggage designed specifically for the Valen.
Aston Martin Valen Price & Production
Aston Martin will produce only 150 examples of the Valen, with prices starting at $2 million. Buyers can extensively customize each car, ensuring that no two examples are identical.
The company has already received more applications than the number of cars available. Aston Martin has also confirmed that there will be no convertible version of the Valen, making the limited-production coupe even more exclusive.
