1 min read

Bentley has taken the wraps off its latest grand tourer, the Continental GT, and its convertible sibling, the Flying Spur. Along with these cars comes a new engine, a 2nd V8 plug-in hybrid engine.

Bentley Continental GT, Flying Spur Engine Details

This new engine produces 671 BHP and 930 NM of torque, propelling the car from a standstill to 100 KMPH in around 3.7 seconds. The GTC takes 3.8 seconds to achieve the same feat. In pure electric mode, range stands at 85 km, whereas the GTC has an all-electric range of 82KM. Emissions are also impressively low, with CO2 emissions amounting to 29g/km and 31g/km for the GT and GTC, respectively.

Bentley has also said to improve the driving dynamics of the car in a bid to make it more engaging. The presence of Bentley’s trademark advanced chassis system integrates rear axle steering, active anti roll control, and an electronically limited slip differential. Bentley offers some driving modes as well, namely Comfort and Sport, which alter settings according to the need. This engine is being offered in 2 trims, namely Azure and Core. The former is more comfort-oriented, whereas the latter, as the name suggests, is more performance-oriented.

2nd Engine Option

There is another engine option that is available with the Continental, namely the Ultra Performance Hybrid. This engine produces 771 BHP. This engine was introduced last year with the Speed and Mulliner models. With the introduction of this update, Bentley’s 2-door and 4-door models are exclusively powered by an electrified 4-liter twin-turbo V8 that is mated to an electric motor integrated into the transmission. This also marks a major step in the brand’s transition towards electrification and hybrid powertrains. This particular version has been slightly different in terms of the engine tuning, resulting in a lower output.

Bentley CGT Variants

The high-performance hybrid powertrain is only offered in specific trims. The Flying Spur receives this powertrain in the Speed and Mulliner models, whereas the Continental lineup offers it in both the standard and Azure models.

Bentley CGT Models And Enhancements

The Azure model offers some unique visual and comfort enhancements, such as 22-inch machined alloy wheels, a gloss black grill with a chrome surround, a black front splitter, and Azure badging all around. The coupe version also comes with a panoramic glass roof, and the convertible gets built-in neck warmers.

Bentley CGT Pricing

The High Performance Flying Spur’s asking price has not been revealed yet, whereas the Continental GT has been priced at USD 265,900. The flagship Ultra Performance model is said to retail for around USD 309,000.
