The Bovensiepen Spider brings new life to the BMW Z4 roadster with more power, sharper styling and a more luxurious cabin. Created by the family behind the original Alpina brand, the limited-production Spider combines BMW performance with Bovensiepen’s focus on refinement.
Only 99 examples will be built, making it an exclusive successor in spirit to the BMW Alpina roadsters that never came to fruition.
429 HP Twin-Turbo Inline-Six
The Spider retains the Z4’s 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six, but Bovensiepen has upgraded the intake and added a new ram-air channel and exhaust system.
The engine now produces 429 HP and 579 NM of torque, up from 382 HP and 500 NM in the Z4 M40i. Power reaches the rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission, with no manual gearbox option. The claimed 0–100 KM/H time is 4.2 seconds.
Performance Upgrades
Bovensiepen has also revised the Spider’s chassis with new dampers and longer rear auxiliary springs designed to improve responsiveness.
An optional performance package adds an underbody reinforcement brace and a milled-aluminium rear differential cover designed to improve cooling. It also raises the claimed top speed to 295 KM/H from 259 KM/H. A further high-performance braking system brings four-piston fixed front calipers and 15.6-inch perforated brake discs.
Distinctive Exterior Design

The Spider receives subtle bodywork changes rather than a complete redesign. A new front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser give the roadster a sportier appearance.
The front fender vents have been replaced by larger arrow-shaped openings with “Spider” branding, while a more pronounced rear lip spoiler adds further visual distinction. The roadster also rides on bespoke 20-inch ten-spoke wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres.
More Luxurious Interior

Inside, Bovensiepen has focused on upgrading the Z4’s cabin rather than radically changing its layout. The Spider comes with Vernasca leather upholstery, Alcantara seat inserts and a heated steering wheel covered in Lavalina leather. Buyers can also specify additional leather throughout the dashboard, while Alcantara can cover the A-pillars, wind deflector and roll bars.
Prices In The Middle East
The Bovensiepen Spider starts at €115,500 in Europe, placing it firmly in the luxury-performance roadster segment. Middle East pricing has not been announced. In markets such as the UAE and Saudi Arabia, the final price would likely rise depending on taxes, specifications and local distribution. With only 99 examples planned, availability is expected to be extremely limited.
Verdict
The Bovensiepen Spider effectively delivers the sort of refined, high-performance BMW roadster that could have carried an Alpina badge. Its 429 HP inline-six, upgraded chassis, bespoke styling and luxurious interior give the discontinued Z4 a new lease of life. However, its €115,500 starting price makes it far more exclusive than the BMW it is based on.
