Bovensiepen Zagato: BMW M4 On Luxurious Steroids

1 min read

The Bovensiepen family, founders of legendary German BMW tuning house Alpina Automotive, have launched their own coachbuilding business with the reveal of a new 600 Horsepower super-GT at the Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza. Essentially a BMW M4 underneath, Zagato is a name given as it’s made in collaboration with the famous Italian Designing house Zagato, who have famously collaborated with Aston Martin tons of times.

As legendary as the Zagato name gets, they’re back to re-establish their legacy this time on a coachbuilt BMW. Zagato’s first effort for Bovensiepen is described as “a harmonious composition of individual design” which “features and bears the unmistakable signature of the traditional Milanese design studio”.

It is said to take more than 250 hours to build the BMW Zagato, whose production will be strictly limited. Though no accurate figure has been given. Pricing and availability will be given at the end of this year, ahead of deliveries beginning in summer next year.

BMW Bovensiepen Zagato- Coachbuilt Dream Design

The SuperGT is extensively differentiated from the regular BMW M4 on which it is based by making a totally bespoke treatment at the front and rear of the vehicle, a re-designed front bonnet and side profile, and Zagato’s trademark ‘double bubble’ roof.

It will feature a bespoke Bilstein dampers setup that can be configured in three specefic driving modes – Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus, which Bovensiepen says offers “a range from pronounced comfort to athletic driving dynamics”. It also gains a lightweight, twin-exit titanium exhaust system from Akrapovic, which is said to be 40% lighter than the standard exhaust system and will also sound better. This results in a truly one of a kind design that does not exist in the market.

Bovensiepen Zagato- Heart Of A BMW

The Bovensiepen Zagato will feature the legendary 3.0-litre straight six engine named S58 that produces 603bhp and 516lb ft of torque for a 0- 100 kmph time of just 3.3 seconds, and a top speed in excess of 300kmph, Bovensiepen claims. This will be the M4 in it’s highest tuning configuration we have ever seen up to date. The regular M4 makes more than 100 fewer horses in comparison.

Verdict – A True Bentley Alternative

With Alpina now completely owned by BMW, this is a great start for the Bovensiepen family to show their legacy of Alpina Automotive to it’s fullest, along with a great start for a lineup of coachbuilt BMWs that people and customers will surely enjoy driving and seeing on the road.
