The Chinese-built SSCC SC01 has emerged as an exciting new electric sports car, combining lightweight construction with impressive performance at an affordable price. Developed by the Small Sports Car Company (SSCC), the two-door coupe delivers nearly 429 HP from a dual-motor setup while weighing just over 1,360 KG. The company plans to introduce the SC01 in the UK before expanding into other international markets.

Lightweight Design With Sports Car Focus

The SSCC SC01 follows the traditional lightweight sports car philosophy despite being fully electric. The coupe weighs just over 1,360 KG, making it significantly lighter than most electric vehicles currently on sale.
Its low-slung proportions, compact dimensions and mid-engine-inspired styling give the SC01 a distinctive appearance. Moreover, the design draws inspiration from classic British sports cars while maintaining a modern EV identity.

Dual-Motor Electric Powertrain Produces 429 HP

Power comes from two electric motors that produce a combined output of nearly 429 HP. Energy is supplied by a 60 KWH battery pack, delivering strong acceleration and competitive driving range.
According to company estimates, the SC01 can accelerate from 0 to 97 KM/H in under 3 seconds. Furthermore, the electric sports car offers a claimed driving range of approximately 483 KM on a full charge.

Advanced Chassis Enhances Driving Dynamics

SSCC has equipped the SC01 with an independent suspension setup at all four corners to maximise handling performance. The sports car also features unequal-length control arms and inboard springs with dampers for improved chassis balance.
As a result, the SC01 promises agile handling while maintaining ride comfort during everyday driving. Additionally, its favourable power-to-weight ratio places it among much more expensive performance cars.

Driver-Focused Cabin Completes The Package

Although SSCC has revealed limited interior details, the cabin focuses on a driver-centric layout. The minimalist dashboard complements the car’s lightweight philosophy, while the low seating position enhances the sporty driving experience.
The company is expected to reveal additional technology and equipment closer to the vehicle’s international launch.

Affordable Pricing Creates Strong Value

One of the SC01’s biggest highlights is its aggressive pricing. In China, the electric sports car costs approximately USD 34,000, making it comparable to many entry-level performance coupes.
Consequently, the SC01 delivers sports car performance at a price normally associated with conventional petrol-powered models.

Prices In The Middle East

SSCC has not announced official pricing for Middle Eastern markets. However, based on its Chinese pricing and estimated import costs, the SC01 could be priced between AED 125,000 and AED 145,000 in the UAE if introduced. Prices may vary across Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman depending on local taxes, homologation requirements and available specifications.

Launch Timeline & Rivals

SSCC plans to introduce the SC01 in the UK as one of its first overseas markets, with additional international expansion expected later. If launched in the Middle East, the electric sports car would rival models such as the MG Cyberster, Alpine A290 performance variants and entry-level versions of the Porsche 718 Cayman while also attracting buyers considering the Toyota GR86 and Subaru BRZ. Overall, the SSCC SC01 demonstrates that lightweight electric sports cars can still deliver engaging performance without carrying an ultra-premium price tag.
