Ferrari Unveils One-Off SC40 Tribute Model Inspired By The Iconic F40

1 min read

Ferrari has revealed the exclusive SC40, a one-of-one supercar commissioned under its Special Projects program and based on the 296 GTB platform. Paying homage to the legendary 1980s Ferrari F40, the SC40 blends nostalgia and modern engineering, combining sharp, angular retro styling with an 819-hp hybrid powertrain shared with the 296 GTB.

Design Inspired By Ferrari’s Industrial Legacy

Designed by the Ferrari Styling Centre under Flavio Manzoni, the SC40 features precise geometries and muscular, squared volumes that recall the F40’s aggressive silhouette. The long, low nose pairs with a high fixed rear wing painted uniquely in SC40 White, with a black dividing line and open mesh revealing mechanical components beneath.

The car’s side profile is dominated by large intercooler intakes and carbon-fiber accents, reinterpreting the F40’s classic NACA ducts. At the front, sharply placed headlights reside in black housings that connect with a wide lower air intake, accented by distinctive rectangular brake cooling intakes. The rear wing proudly bears the SC40 script, engraved similarly to the F40’s iconic wing designation.

Powerful Hybrid V6 Powertrain

Underneath resides the 296 GTB’s mid-mounted 3.0-liter, 120-degree twin-turbo V6, codenamed F163, combined with an axial-flux electric motor. The hybrid powertrain produces a combined output of 819 HP and 740 NM Of Torque, delivering blistering performance. The SC40 reportedly sprints from 0 to 100 KM/H in just 2.9 seconds, and reaches a top speed exceeding 330 KM/H.

The car balances modern hybrid efficiency with racecar-worthy pace and acceleration, making it one of the most formidable Ferrari special projects to date.

Luxurious & Racing-Inspired Interior

The cabin showcases a mix of carbon-Kevlar, Charcoal Alcantara, and red jacquard technical fabric upholstery, referencing the F40’s heritage while using advanced, lightweight materials. Seats and headrests bear the Prancing Horse and SC40 logos for exclusivity. The interior incorporates technical craftsmanship with brushed aluminium fuel caps, carbon-fiber engine bay detailing, and bespoke dashboard elements.

Availability & Pricing

As a one-off model created for a private client, the SC40 is not for public sale, but Ferrari will display the styling buck at its Maranello museum starting October 18, 2025. Pricing was not disclosed but the bespoke nature and hybrid performance position the SC40 as a priceless collector’s creation.

Conclusion

The Ferrari SC40 is a brilliant tribute to the iconic F40, merging classic design cues with state-of-the-art hybrid technology and extreme performance. For Middle Eastern collectors and Ferrari aficionados, the SC40 exemplifies Ferrari’s ability to honor its past while pushing the boundaries of modern supercar design.
