Ford has revealed the 2027 Mustang Dark Horse SC convertible, bringing supercharged V8 power to a roofless Mustang. The new model uses the same 795 HP engine as the coupe but focuses more on grand touring. Orders will open in fall 2026, with deliveries expected to begin in spring 2027.
795 HP Supercharged V8
The Dark Horse SC convertible uses Ford’s supercharged 5.2-litre Predator V8. It produces 795 HP and 660 LB-FT of torque.
Power reaches the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. A carbon-fibre driveshaft also helps transfer the engine’s output to the rear axle.
Aggressive Mustang Design
The convertible retains the Dark Horse SC’s aggressive styling. Its front end features multiple air intakes, large grille openings and a carbon-fibre section between the mesh panels.
Flared wheel arches, sharp side skirts and rectangular exhaust outlets continue the muscular design. A large rear wing also remains standard, while a lightweight magnesium tower-to-tower brace supports the engine bay.
Softer Suspension For Grand Touring
Ford has tuned the convertible differently from the coupe. Its MagneRide suspension uses a softer calibration with greater emphasis on road comfort.
The convertible will not receive the coupe’s Track package. As a result, buyers cannot add the coupe’s carbon-fibre wheels, high-grip tyres or carbon-ceramic brakes.
Power-Folding Roof Adds Open-Air Driving
The Dark Horse SC convertible is based on the Mustang GT convertible. Ford says the existing body structure provides enough rigidity without additional reinforcement.
The fabric roof opens at the press of a button. Ford has not confirmed whether drivers can operate the roof while moving.
New Precision Purple Exterior Colour
Ford has introduced Precision Purple for the Dark Horse SC convertible. The colour takes inspiration from the classic Mystichrome finishes used on earlier Mustang models.
Depending on the lighting, the paint can show different red and pink tones. Inside, buyers can choose between Black Onyx and Space Gray upholstery.
Road-Focused Alternative To The Coupe
Ford sees the convertible as a grand tourer rather than a dedicated track machine. The company has positioned it against performance convertibles such as the Porsche 911 Cabriolet and Mercedes-AMG SL.
The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 also sits among its performance rivals. However, the Mustang combines a large supercharged V8 with a traditional rear-wheel-drive layout.
Prices In The Middle East
Ford has not confirmed pricing for the 2027 Mustang Dark Horse SC convertible. The US price is expected to sit around USD 110,000, which could translate to roughly AED 405,000 to AED 430,000 in the UAE. Prices may vary across Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman depending on taxes, specifications and options.
