The 2026 Ford Mustang adds a new FX package that’s inspired by the pony car’s iconic third generation, which was popularly known as the Fox Body Mustang.
The Fox Body Mustang refers to the Ford Mustang models built from 1979 to 1993, based on Ford’s “Fox” platform. Known for their lightweight design and easy modifiability, they became a favourite among drag racers and street performance enthusiasts. With a boxy look and a range of V8 options, the Fox Body helped keep the Mustang name alive during a changing automotive era. Ford wanted to give a tribute to that car, using this new FX package.
What’s New?
The FX package includes white wheels, iconic retro fonts like the ’80s and ’90s cars, and plaid seat inserts, which are also like the Fox bodies. The Fox body Mustang cars could be ordered from the factory with bright white wheels, and now Ford is letting customers fit their new Mustangs with the same signature and iconic look, although the standard 19-inch wheels are much larger than what any old Mustang came with. With the FX kit, the Mustang’s grille elements are also painted white when paired with the Performance package. The paint option is what’s called Adriatic Blue Metallic, and the new paint job looks a lot like the Fox body’s teal color.
In the interior, the FX package keeps nostalgia alive with plaid seat inserts just like classic Fox body mustangs. The seats are wrapped in perforated leather, and the plaid motif comes with both, the regular seats and the Recaro buckets. The interior of FX cars is detailed with City Silver and Adriatic Blue contrast stitching. The right side of the instrument panel also features a “Mustang GT” badge that mimics the Fox-body style, and it’s backed by the same trim you’ll find on the new Mustang Dark Horse.
Pricing
Ford hasn’t told anything about the pricing of the new FX package, but Ford says it will be optioned with the GT premium models in either coupe or convertible format. Hence, the looks package is only available with the V8 engine option. The pricing for the regular GT premium starts at AED 256,000 for the model and goes up with options.
