Mercedes-AMG is gearing up for a major shift. Their first-ever fully electric GT 4-Door has been spotted out in the wild during testing, and even under heavy camo, it’s clear this is no ordinary EV. This sleek prototype marks a fresh chapter for AMG, pushing hard into the high-performance electric sedan scene and aiming straight at rivals like the Porsche Taycan.
Novel Design, All-New Platform

From what we’ve seen, the design sticks to AMG’s aggressive roots. Think wide, low, and smooth with that signature fastback shape. It’s got the same kind of attitude as the Vision AMG concept we saw back in 2022. But this isn’t just a refresh of the old GT 4-Door. Instead of borrowing parts from other Mercedes models, this new beast sits on its own purpose-built electric platform called AMG.EA. That means better balance, more cabin space, and a chassis built specifically for speed and electric performance.

Despite the camouflage, some features are easy to spot. There’s no exhaust, obviously. The grille is sealed off, and we might see a futuristic twist on the classic Panamericana design, possibly with lights built in. Mercedes is also working on unique LED elements in the headlights and taillights, giving this EV a look that’s AMG but next-gen.
Performance

Under the skin, things get seriously wild. Mercedes-AMG has teamed up with YASA, the British motor specialists, to create compact axial-flux motors. These motors are small, flat, and insanely powerful. We’re talking up to 1000 BHP and 1300 Nm of torque. The new setup also drops the centre of gravity, improving handling and giving it that sharp, track-ready feel you love.
Interior

We haven’t seen the official interior yet, but clues from the Vision AMG concept suggest something smart and driver-focused. The battery is mounted low in the floor, so passengers get more room without sacrificing that low-slung sports car vibe. Expect high-tech everything—massive digital displays, next-level driver assists, and an interface that feels more cockpit than cabin.
Rivals

Make no mistake, this new AMG is going after the Porsche Taycan. But unlike the EQE and EQS AMG variants, which started as luxury EVs and got performance tweaks, this electric GT was built from the ground up with driving in mind. The mission is simple: no compromises. Just speed, handling, and attitude worthy of the AMG badge.
When’s It Coming?

Mercedes-AMG is planning to pull the covers off the electric GT 4-Door sometime around mid-2025, with production shortly after. This launch will also kick off the AMG.EA platform, setting the foundation for future electric AMGs, including a high-performance SUV that’s already in the works.
