Gordon Murray S1 Takes A More Touring-Focused Approach
Gordon Murray Special Vehicles has unveiled the S1, its latest ultra-limited-production supercar. The new model is based on the S1 LM but takes a more comfortable approach to high-performance driving. Instead of extreme aerodynamic hardware, the S1 focuses on improved ride comfort, lower cabin noise and greater usability. However, production will remain extremely limited, with only 64 examples planned.
S1 Gets A Naturally Aspirated 4.2-Litre V-12

Power comes from a naturally aspirated 4.2-litre V-12 engine mounted behind the cabin. The engine produces 681 HP and can rev to an extraordinary 12,100 RPM, with the fuel cut arriving at 12,400 RPM. It uses dry-sump lubrication, titanium valves and connecting rods, along with lightweight pistons featuring silicon carbide coatings. The engine also delivers stronger low-speed torque than the S1 LM.
6-Speed Manual Gearbox Adds Driver Engagement

The V-12 is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, giving the S1 a more traditional driving experience. The engine produces 369 LB-FT of torque at 7000 RPM, while 80 percent of peak torque is available from just 2500 RPM. This broader torque delivery should make the S1 easier to drive on public roads while retaining the high-revving character expected from a Gordon Murray supercar.
Aerodynamics Are Reduced For Better Road Comfort
Unlike the S1 LM, the new S1 removes several of its most aggressive aerodynamic elements. The fixed rear wing, deep side skirts and large front splitter are absent. As a result, the S1 generates significantly less downforce and allows engineers to develop a more compliant suspension. The ride height also increases by around 10 MM, making the car better suited to long-distance road driving.
Every Body Panel Gets A New Design
Gordon Murray Special Vehicles says almost every exterior body panel has been redesigned compared with the S1 LM. The roof is reportedly the only body panel carried over from the more extreme model. This approach gives the S1 a cleaner appearance while maintaining the lightweight construction associated with Gordon Murray’s road cars. Carbon-fibre body panels also help keep overall weight extremely low.
Three-Seat Cabin Adds More Comfort
The S1 retains the distinctive central driving position and three-seat layout found in other Gordon Murray supercars. However, the cabin receives thicker seat padding and additional sound insulation for a quieter experience. New engine mounts further reduce mechanical noise. Moreover, dihedral doors make entry and exit easier, while roll-down windows replace the fixed Lexan panels used on the S1 LM.
Lightweight Construction Remains A Priority
Despite its additional comfort equipment, the S1 remains focused on low weight. Carbon-fibre body panels contribute to the lightweight construction, while the naturally aspirated V-12 avoids the added complexity of turbocharging. Gordon Murray Special Vehicles claims the S1 is lighter than the T.50, reinforcing the company’s emphasis on reducing mass rather than relying only on higher power.
Designed For Long-Distance Driving & Weekend Roads
The S1 was developed with long-distance road driving in mind. Gordon Murray Special Vehicles describes it as a car that can be driven to a circuit or taken on an extended road trip before returning home. The softer suspension, quieter cabin and improved access support this approach. Therefore, the S1 offers a different character from the more track-focused S1 LM.
Only 64 Gordon Murray S1 Examples Will Be Built
Production of the Gordon Murray S1 will be limited to just 64 units worldwide. The figure is higher than the company’s usual production plans, which can involve as few as five, 10 or 20 vehicles. Strong customer demand reportedly influenced the decision to increase production. However, all 64 examples have already been spoken for, meaning new buyers cannot simply place an order for the car.
Prices In India
Gordon Murray Special Vehicles has not disclosed the official price of the S1. However, its extremely limited production, naturally aspirated V-12 engine and bespoke construction place it firmly in the ultra-exclusive segment. For reference, an S1 LM recently sold for around $20.63 million at auction. The S1 could therefore command a multi-crore price if an example reaches the Indian market.
Prices In The Middle East
The S1 is expected to attract strong interest from collectors across the Middle East, particularly in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. However, Gordon Murray Special Vehicles has not announced official regional pricing. Any example imported into the UAE could carry a very high price because of its limited production and bespoke specification. Final costs would also depend on import duties, registration and individual customer options.
Launch Timeline & Availability

The Gordon Murray S1 has been unveiled at The Quail during Monterey Car Week 2026. Production will be limited to 64 examples, and all units are already allocated. Therefore, the S1 is effectively unavailable to new customers despite its more accessible touring-focused character. With its 681 HP V-12, 6-speed manual gearbox and lightweight construction, the S1 continues Gordon Murray’s focus on driver engagement.
