Hennessey Venom F5 – A Truly Venomous Bite

1 min read

The Venom F5 Evolution is Hennessey’s latest precision-built hypercar, engineered to push boundaries with aerodynamic upgrades, a record-breaking V8, and refined ride dynamics. Built for extreme speed yet surprisingly accommodating, it merges aerospace-grade materials with motorsport tech, delivering a machine that’s as brutally fast as it is meticulously crafted.

Design

The Venom F5 Evolution stays faithful to its predecessor’s low-drag form but layers on advanced aerodynamic refinements. A reworked front splitter, aggressive dive planes, and underbody wake deflectors guide airflow with surgical precision. At the rear, a Gurney flap, shaped with input from F1 aerodynamicist Dr. Mark Handford, adds crucial stability at high velocity. The body, crafted almost entirely from carbon fibre, keeps the weight down and the rigidity up. Butterfly doors slice open the sleek silhouette, which now carries a slightly increased drag coefficient of 0.39, up from the concept’s 0.33. Optional Touring add-ons, including leather-wrapped carbon fibre seats and a carbon fibre cupholder, inject just a touch of grand touring civility into this land rocket.

Performance

At its heart lies “Fury”, a 6.6-litre twin-turbocharged V8 co-developed with Ilmor Engineering. This engine is no minor refresh; it’s a masterclass in combustion chaos. It boasts oval-shaped billet pistons, billet rods, titanium valves, and twin mirror-image Precision turbos, the largest ever fit to a production car. The result: 2031 BHP at 8,000 rpm and 1960 Nm of torque at 5,200 rpm, all burning clean on Shell E85. Acceleration is appropriately violent: 0-100 km/h in 2.6 seconds, 0-320 km/h in 10.3 seconds. The car is engineered to eclipse 480 km/h, though top speed is conservatively quoted at 400 km/h. Power reaches the rear wheels through a CIMA 7-speed single-clutch automated manual with paddle shifters.

Chassis

The Evolution benefits from a new adaptive suspension system, with five modes tailored for varying surfaces and aggression levels: Sport, Road Race, Drag, Wet, and the full-send F5 Mode. Suspension settings are adjusted through a steering wheel toggle, allowing the driver to alter damping, roll, pitch, and steering response on the fly. These dynamics are tuned to work in harmony with the enhanced aerodynamics, offering sharper turn-in and increased grip under pressure. Optional comfort-focused systems, including a touring-spec exhaust, aim to make long drives tolerable—even enjoyable.

Interior

Inside, performance and usability coexist without compromise. The cabin accommodates taller drivers, a rare trait in this speed class. Touring upgrades add creature comforts, like the aforementioned carbon-wrapped leather seats and a practical cupholder. But perhaps the most unique interior detail isn’t inside the car—it’s the “Treasure Chest.” This aluminium container houses the key fob, magnetic trickle charger, and tow hook. A small serial plate crafted from Space Shuttle metal underscores the car’s exclusivity and obsession with detail.

Availability & Pricing

The Evolution upgrade starts at $285,000, available for both new orders and existing F5 Coupes, Roadsters, and Revolution variants. Total Venom F5 production, including Evolution model,s is limited to 99 units worldwide. Depending on spec and model, the base F5 ranges between $2.1 million and over USD 3 million. For the fortunate few, the F5 Evolution is a statement, engineered with the singular goal of velocity without compromise.
