Jeep Expands Its Concept Lineup At Easter Jeep Safari
Jeep has unveiled two new off-road concepts at the iconic Easter Jeep Safari, held in Moab. These additions build on the brand’s already impressive concept showcase, highlighting the future of rugged SUVs with both combustion and electric powertrains.
The two standout reveals include a modified version of the next-generation Jeep Cherokee and a heavily upgraded take on the all-electric Jeep Recon.
Cherokee Upland Concept Previews Trailhawk Return

The Cherokee Upland concept offers a closer look at what could soon become the return of the Trailhawk trim, a fan-favorite for serious off-road capability.
While the upgrades may appear subtle, they are highly functional:
- Redesigned front fascia with improved approach angle
- More robust bumper with integrated tow hooks
- Rear tow hooks for recovery situations
- Roof rack system for added utility
The SUV rides on 18-INCH wheels wrapped in 32-INCH all-terrain tires, enhancing grip and ground clearance.
These changes look production-ready, strongly suggesting that this concept is essentially a preview of an upcoming Trailhawk variant for the new Cherokee generation.
Recon Overwatch Concept Takes Things Further
If the Cherokee concept is practical, the Recon Overwatch is pure off-road aggression. Based on the Jeep Recon, this concept pushes the limits of what an electric SUV can do in extreme terrain.
Key upgrades include:
- 2-INCH lift kit for improved ground clearance
- Massive 34-INCH all-terrain tires
- 18-INCH beadlock wheels
- Wider carbon-fiber fender flares
Jeep has also removed the doors, rear glass, and quarter windows, delivering a true open-air off-road experience similar to the Wrangler.
Built For Hardcore Trail Use
The Overwatch concept isn’t just about looks. It features serious hardware designed for tough trails:
- Steel rock rails for side protection
- Underbody skid plates to protect vital components
- Trail-spec mirrors for better visibility
- Roof-mounted cargo basket for gear
Inside, the cabin gets a rugged makeover with green upholstery and heavy-duty all-weather floor mats, ideal for mud, sand, and water exposure.
What This Means For Jeep’s Future
The Cherokee Upland concept clearly hints at a production-ready Trailhawk model returning soon, filling the gap left in the new generation lineup. Meanwhile, the Recon Overwatch demonstrates the brand’s confidence in electric off-roaders, showing that EVs can be just as capable and adventurous as traditional 4x4s.
Together, these concepts reinforce Jeep’s core identity: pushing boundaries in off-road performance while adapting to the future of electrification.
