Lexus LFA Successor Spotted Testing

1 min read

Lexus announced last year that its only proper sports car for sale, the RC, would be discontinued after a long and respectful run. This discontinuation would leave a hollow space in the brand’s lineup as Lexus usually always has a great sports car on offer.

But this is temporary, as Lexus has been testing a supercar for more than 3 years now. Here is everything we know about the upcoming Lexus 2-door supercar that will be a successor to the Iconic Lexus LFA.

Lexus Supercar – Expected Details

The new images only highlight the driver’s side and rear end of the car; they do provide a good look at the quad exhaust pipes, confirming that there’s an internal-combustion engine under the coupe’s long hood, and all this time, we were worried the LFA successor might be an EV.

The powertrain is expected to combine a hybrid system with a twin-turbo V8 that will be graciously tuned to sound heavenly, at least we hope so. The vehicle is presumed to be named as the Lexus LFR, but this is not confirmed, so only time will tell.

Concept Image

The LFR was also spotted multiple times at Nurburgring with a yellow sticker, which is necessary for hybrid vehicles being tested. It’s believed that Toyota’s Gazoo Racing division is working on building a new GT3 car for a full-fledged racing program, which it hinted at back in 2022 with a concept that looks a lot like the forthcoming LFR supercar.

Verdict

There is no confirmed date for when this supercar will be revealed to the public, so all we can do is wait. Unlike the LFA, people will now surely realise and appreciate this vehicle and will not let it fail like the LFA did in terms of sales figures. Considering the excessive testing, Lexus is surely cooking something.
