Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung, the second model in its exclusive Mythos series. Limited to just 30 units, the road-legal performance coupe combines a 646 PS V8 engine, rear-wheel drive, extensive carbon-fibre construction and extreme aerodynamic upgrades.
All 30 examples have already been allocated, making the CLE 646 one of the rarest modern Mercedes-AMG models.
646 PS Twin-Turbo V8 Engine
The CLE 646 is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with a flat-plane crankshaft. The engine produces 646 PS and 850 NM of torque, delivering sharper throttle response while reducing rotating mass.
A three-circuit cooling system helps maintain operating temperatures under demanding conditions. The setup includes a high-temperature circuit for the engine and two low-temperature circuits for the charge air, transmission oil and 48-volt electrical system.
The V8 is paired with a lightweight titanium Akrapovič exhaust system.
Rear-Wheel Drive Performance
Unlike the AMG CLE53, the CLE 646 sends all its power exclusively to the rear wheels. A 9-speed automatic transmission works with an electronically controlled limited-slip differential to manage the additional output.
The coupe accelerates from 0–100 KM/H in 3.9 seconds and reaches 0–200 KM/H in 11.4 seconds. Top speed is rated at 311 KM/H.
Track-Focused Suspension & Brakes
Mercedes-AMG has equipped the CLE 646 with a specially developed coilover suspension featuring four-way adjustable dampers. Drivers can independently adjust low- and high-speed rebound and compression settings.
Stopping power comes from ventilated and perforated carbon-ceramic brakes. The front discs measure 16.5 inches and use six-piston fixed calipers, while 14.2-inch rear discs feature single-piston floating calipers.
Carbon-Fibre Body Cuts 170 KG
The CLE 646 receives a body that is 2.4 inches wider than the CLE53, along with additional structural reinforcement. Carbon fibre is used extensively across the front fenders, front end, side sills, bonnet, roof and rear bumper.
Mercedes-AMG claims a weight reduction of around 170 KG compared with the CLE53. Polycarbonate rear and side windows, a lighter starter battery and extensive interior weight reduction contribute to the saving.
Extreme Aerodynamics & 20-Inch Wheels
The aggressive bodywork is designed to generate substantial aerodynamic performance. Large cooling intakes, a front splitter, bonnet vent and enlarged rear diffuser complement a manually adjustable rear wing.
Mercedes-AMG says the aerodynamic package generates more than 250 KG of downforce at top speed.
The coupe rides on 20-inch forged wheels with 305/30 front and 335/30 rear tyres, giving the CLE 646 an especially wide footprint.
Stripped-Back Performance Interior
Inside, Mercedes-AMG has removed the rear seats and acoustic insulation to reduce weight. The car also features a simpler sound system, fewer driving modes and fewer assistance systems.
Racing bucket seats come as standard, while an optional Performance package adds six-point harnesses. Carbon-fibre door panels further reinforce the track-focused character.
Prices In The Middle East
Mercedes-AMG has not announced pricing for the CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung. Its extreme specification and production run of only 30 units mean it is expected to command a substantial premium over the AMG CLE53.
For Middle East markets such as the UAE and Saudi Arabia, final pricing will likely depend on local taxes, specification and allocation. All 30 units have already been spoken for.
