Mitsuoka has revealed its latest retro-inspired creation. The Japanese automaker calls it the LA1. The new roadster appears to use the Mazda Miata as its foundation. Its styling takes inspiration from the first-generation Chevrolet Corvette. Mitsuoka will reveal the full car on November 26, 2026.

Miata Underneath Corvette-Inspired Styling

The LA1 appears to combine modern Japanese engineering with classic American design. Mitsuoka has not confirmed the donor car yet.

However, early images strongly suggest a Mazda Miata underneath. The roadster keeps the Miata’s compact proportions while adding a completely different exterior. The front end features four round headlights. Chrome bumpers add another classic touch. The overall design closely references the original Corvette.

Retro Design With A Modern Twist

Mitsuoka did not create an exact C1 Corvette replica. Instead, the LA1 blends classic shapes with modern proportions. The longer-looking nose gives the roadster a distinctive profile. The quad headlights also separate it from the original Corvette design. If the LA1 keeps the Miata’s chassis and driving characteristics, it could offer a lightweight sports-car experience with a very different appearance.

Mitsuoka Has Built Similar Creations

The LA1 follows a long line of unusual Mitsuoka models. The company previously created the Rock Star using the Mazda Miata. That model took inspiration from the second-generation Corvette. Mitsuoka also created the Buddy, which used the Toyota RAV4 underneath a Chevrolet K5 Blazer-inspired body.

The company unveiled another unusual project in 2023. The M55 combined a Honda Civic hatchback with styling inspired by the Dodge Charger.

Full LA1 Reveal Coming In November

Mitsuoka will officially reveal the LA1 on November 26. The event should confirm its donor vehicle and technical specifications. The company should also reveal performance details at the same time. These could include power, transmission and dimensions.

Mitsuoka has not confirmed production numbers yet. However, the LA1 appears to be heading toward production rather than remaining a concept.

Prices In The Middle East

Mitsuoka has not announced pricing for the LA1. The company should reveal its price around the full debut. Middle East availability also remains unconfirmed. If the LA1 reaches markets such as the UAE or Saudi Arabia, its limited production could make it a niche enthusiast model.

Potential buyers may also face long waiting periods. Mitsuoka models often attract demand that exceeds their limited production capacity.

A Unique Alternative To Modern Roadsters

The LA1 gives the Mazda Miata a completely different identity. Its Corvette-inspired design could make it one of Mitsuoka’s most distinctive creations. More importantly, the project shows how far the company continues to push its retro-car formula. The full reveal should provide the answers on performance, production and pricing.
