General Motors has unveiled a new futuristic concept of its Corvette supercar. This design was conceptualized and manufactured in the United Kingdom. The all-electric Chevrolet Corvette was first announced and confirmed in the year 2022. Two more prototypes are to be unveiled later this year, the last of which may be revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July. The concept design will serve as a preview to the next-generation Corvette, which is due in 2028.

New Chevrolet Corvette Design

The concept takes design inspiration from a fighter jet, as per the designers. There are large air intakes present at the front, which are bordered by thin LED strips that are arranged in an inverted “L” format. The Corvette emblem, popularly known as “fleur-de-lis(flower of the lily)” gets a blacked-out treatment. The front wheels are of a 22-inch size, and the rear wheels are of 23 23-inch size. The new Corvette concept reimagines the iconic Corvette design in a race car-inspired design with the incorporation of futuristic elements. The fighter jet inspiration makes its presence felt, as these design elements are found for both sculptural body parts and actual functional vehicle parts. There is also a center line on the windscreen, which makes a partition for the front and rear windscreens, further acting as a support for the gullwing doors.

Aero Duality

The current-gen Chevy Corvette gets Aero Duality fan assist, which directs air over and through the vehicle’s ducts to improve aerodynamic efficiency and range. The same feature can be seen on the Corvette Concept as well. As of now, this feature has not been confirmed on the production spec vehicle, but the intent behind this was to showcase the British team’s fresh perspective to completely rethink the Corvette.

New Chevrolet Design Studio At The United Kingdom

The new Chevrolet design center is situated in Leamington Spa, and is piloted by ex-Jaguar design chief Julian Thomson. Julian Thomson has contributed to designing vehicles such as the Range Rover Evoque, Lotus Elise, etc. He has also previously worked with Volkswagen. The beginning of this new design facility comes after a 10-year absence of General Motors in the United Kingdom, with a motive to make a comeback to the British Market and reinvent itself as a brand.
