New Nissan Patrol Nismo Leaked! Here’s What We Know

1 min read

With the word Nismo, you might understand a few very different things according to the country you are reading this in. If from Japan, you probably think about the GTR R35 Nismo that went around the Nurbugring in under 7 minutes and 10 seconds. If from the USA, apart from the R35 Nismo, you probably have thought about the Juke Nismo, a weird concept by Nissan’s high-performance division.

But here in Dubai, Nismo rhymes with the local Emiratis’ favourite word, Patrol. The Y63 generation of the Nissan Patrol was just revealed, and it’s getting a lot of hype as of now in the Middle East, and, the new gen’s Nismo variant has also been leaked before even being launched! Let’s take a sneak peek.

What Will Be New? Overview

Nissan has been quiet about any hint at a hotter Y63 patrol, but these leaks prove otherwise. The images show clear Nismo labels on the bumpers, which have a red-painted edge that shows off the enhanced bodywork on the front fascia, side skirts, and rear bumper. A black grille now waterfalls down the entire face of the SUV, with a V6T engine designation under another Nismo label on the fender as in the V6 Turbo engine. Straps and apparent wheel covers block what is likely a new wheel design, which will be sportier than the “regular” Patrol.

The rear also features black accents behind the name plate and a newer, lower center taillight in the bumper design. Interestingly, there’s no visible exhaust, which must be tucked away under the bodywork at the back.

Mechanically, the Suspension setup of this vehicle will be stiffened up over the regular Patrol, and the standard SUV already gets the twin-turbo 3.5-liter unit that’s currently good for 425 horsepower. We aren’t so sure if the Nismo will come with more power, but let’s hope for the best.

Verdict – Y63 Nissan Patrol Nismo

More details are yet to be known, but for now the Nismo may not have a lot of differences over the standard Nissan Patrol. Stay tuned to know more.
