Nissan Patrol Y63 2025: Conqueror of The Dunes

2 min read

The legendary Offroader that has rivaled the Toyota Land Cruiser since the wrath of time now gets a 7th-generation model with a completely new chassis and design. This new Nissan Patrol stays true to its roots, being a traditional ladder-frame 4×4 off-roading SUV, but now with a more potent yet downsized engine than the outgoing Y62 model. Let’s dive deeper into this Hardcore SUV from Nissan that has become even more luxurious.

Nissan Patrol Y63- Larger Than Ever!

The dimensions of the new Patrol are rather unbelievable. The length of this vehicle is a mind-blowing 5.3 meters, and the height is 1.94 meters. Even the width of this vehicle is huge at 2.35 meters! Apart from its behemoth dimensions, the new Patrol looks more luxurious and elegant than it ever did. It now gets dual C-shaped headlamps with integrated DRLs and a grill so huge it could embarrass a killer whale. Bold flared arches housing 22-inch multi-spoke, machine-cut alloys wrapped around Bridgestone 275/60 all-season tyres, enhancing its formidable presence.

The tail Lamps are now vertically positioned, connected by a horizontal LED light bar that stretches towards the Nissan logo, setting it apart from its luxury relative, the Infiniti QX80. All of this makes the New Y63 Nissan Patrol look like the conqueror of the dunes

Nissan Patrol Y63- Luxurious Cabin

The cabin is much more luxurious than the Land Cruiser’s dated and orthodox cabin. It now gets Quilted Leather Upholstery, inspired by traditional Japanese Kumiko craftsmanship, offering both elegance and comfort. Designed to accommodate up to eight passengers, the Patrol offers ample headroom and legroom across all three rows, with the second and third rows featuring power-folding capabilities for flexible cargo space.

The dashboard is dominated by twin 14.3-inch screens, one serving as a fully digital instrument cluster and the other as a high-resolution infotainment touchscreen. A 12-speaker Klipsch system delivers an immersive sound experience, and other features such as a panoramic sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting system and powered 3rd row seats are also offered, making it as good as a Range Rover on a budget.

Nissan Patrol Y63- Powertrain

The Y63 Patrol offers two petrol V6 engine variants:

  1. 3.8L Naturally Aspirated V6
    • Power Output: 316 hp @ 6,400 rpm
    • Torque: 386 Nm @ 4,400 rpm
    • Fuel Efficiency: Approximately 9.7 km/l (10.3 L/100 km)
    • Transmission: 9-speed automatic
    • Drive System: 4WD
  2. 3.5L Twin-Turbocharged V6
    • Power Output: 425 hp @ 5,600 rpm
    • Torque: 700 Nm @ 3,600 rpm
    • Fuel Efficiency: Approximately 10.1 km/l (9.9 L/100 km)
    • Transmission: 9-speed automatic
    • Drive System: 4WD

The 3.5L twin-turbo V6 engine replaces the previous 5.6L V8, offering a 7% increase in power and a 25% boost in torque, along with improved fuel efficiency. The transmission is a new 9-speed automatic unit, which helps the Patrol accelerate from 0-100 in just 6.5 seconds with the turbo engine and under 10 seconds with the naturally aspirated engine.

Patrol Or Land Cruiser? Verdict

The most popular question in the entire Middle East has always been the choice between the Patrol and the Land Cruiser. Now with the new model, asking the same question gives a very simple answer.

The Land Cruiser is for a customer who performs extreme off-roading all day and all night. The Land Cruiser is the best off-roader on the market, period. There is a very old saying in the Middle East, “A tourist can go to tour the vast deserts and dunes in any vehicle, but they will return only in a Land Cruiser”. The Land Cruiser has proven itself in off-roading.

The Patrol is no joke as well, in fact, it is almost as good as the Land Cruiser, but now it has a few tricks up its sleeves. The Patrol is much larger in size, way more luxurious, and has more features, and almost the same off-road capabilities with a slightly more powerful turbo engine, which keeps the answer to this question highly subjective.

Land Cruiser is for serious desert Vaga bonds, whereas the patrol is for customers who may prefer more sophistication, luxury, and practicality from their vehicles. Yet, both vehicles still remain legendary in their own ways. The customer who prefers the Land Cruiser will be rewarded with simplicity and reliability, whereas the Patrol customer will be gifted with luxury and space. Your Choice.
