Originally scheduled to launch in 2025, the electric successor to the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman is now expected to arrive much later. Nevertheless, Porsche says the project remains a priority and promises the upcoming EV will deliver the engaging driving experience buyers expect from the brand.
Porsche Continues Development Of The 718 EV
Porsche CEO Michael Leiters has confirmed that the company is actively developing the 718 EV. According to the company, the electric sports car remains the best long-term solution for the entry-level performance segment.
Moreover, Porsche believes the upcoming model will combine strong performance with the driving dynamics that have defined the 718 lineup for years.
Electric Platform Expected To Deliver Strong Performance
Although Porsche has not released official specifications, the 718 EV is expected to use an advanced 800-volt electrical architecture. This system should support ultra-fast charging while improving overall efficiency.

However, based on its expected positioning, the electric sports car could start between AED 340,000 and AED 390,000 in the UAE. Prices may vary across Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman depending on local taxes, specifications and optional equipment.
Launch Timeline & Rivals
Porsche has not confirmed an official launch date for the 718 EV. However, the company is expected to reveal the sports car before customer deliveries begin in late 2027. Once launched, it will compete with the Alpine A110 EV, Lotus Emira successor, Maserati Granturismo Folgore and future high-performance electric sports cars.
