Smart has revealed the production design of its upcoming #2 electric city car through a series of hand-painted murals displayed in major cities around the world. The compact two-seater marks a return to the brand’s original philosophy by reviving the spirit of the iconic Smart ForTwo. The all-electric model will make its official debut at the 2026 Paris Motor Show before reaching selected global markets.
Compact Exterior With Fresh Urban Styling
The Smart #2 retains the compact proportions that made the original ForTwo popular while introducing a cleaner and more modern design. A smoothly sculpted front end, body-coloured grille and teardrop-shaped LED headlights give the city car a friendly appearance.
Additionally, the production model features conventional door handles, a simple rear hatch with a roof spoiler and distinctive circular taillights. Four-spoke alloy wheels further enhance its youthful character.
Hand-Painted Murals Reveal Final Design

Instead of using a conventional marketing campaign, Smart unveiled the #2 through large hand-painted murals created by local artists. The artwork appears in cities including Shanghai, Hong Kong, Berlin, Paris, Melbourne and Buenos Aires.
Although each mural reflects the individual artist’s style, they collectively showcase the production-ready design while highlighting the brand’s urban lifestyle focus.
Electric Powertrain Focuses On Everyday Efficiency
Smart has not released full powertrain specifications for the production #2. However, the company previously confirmed that the concept version features fast-charging capability that can recharge the battery from 10 percent to 80 percent in under 20 minutes.
Furthermore, the electric city car is expected to deliver a driving range of approximately 300 KM, making it suitable for daily urban commuting.
Practical Cabin Designed For City Driving
Smart has yet to reveal the production interior of the #2. However, the compact two-seater is expected to feature a practical cabin layout with modern connectivity and efficient use of interior space.
The minimalist design philosophy should complement the vehicle’s compact footprint while providing the convenience expected from a contemporary electric city car.
Built For Urban Mobility
The Smart #2 has been designed specifically for congested city environments where compact dimensions provide a significant advantage. Its short wheelbase and fully electric powertrain aim to deliver easy manoeuvrability, efficient energy consumption and convenient parking.
Consequently, the #2 continues Smart’s long-standing focus on practical urban transportation while embracing zero-emission mobility.
Prices In The Middle East
Smart has not announced official pricing for Middle Eastern markets. However, if introduced in the region, the Smart #2 is expected to be priced between AED 110,000 and AED 140,000 in the UAE. Prices may vary across Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman depending on local taxes, specifications and available equipment.
Launch Timeline & Rivals
The Smart #2 will make its global debut at the Paris Motor Show in October 2026, with customer deliveries expected to begin shortly afterwards in selected international markets. The company has not confirmed availability for the Middle East. Once launched, the compact EV will rival models such as the Fiat 500e, MINI Cooper Electric, Leapmotor T03 and other premium urban electric hatchbacks. Overall, the Smart #2 revives the brand’s original city car concept while introducing a modern electric platform tailored for today’s urban drivers.
