The Devel Sixteen – A 5,000 BHP Demon

1 min read

Want a car with the highest horsepower figure you’ve ever seen? Meet the Devel Sixteen. Its name alone, Sixteen, offers a not-so-subtle hint at what lurks beneath that sculpted hood: a preposterous 12.3-liter quad-turbo V16 engine that produces enough power to launch small spacecraft.

Powertrain & Performance

Let’s cut through the noise: the car produces 5,007 BHP in its angriest form. That’s not a typo. When most hypercars are bragging about crossing the 1,000 BHP threshold, this monster quintuples down with a number that feels plucked from fantasy. Steve Morris Engines, the American outfit that developed the powerplant, essentially merged two LS-based V8s and then strapped on four humongous 81mm turbochargers. They shove in enough air to generate 60+ PSI of boost pressure. To put that into perspective, a turbocharged sports car generally produces around 15-20 PSI of boost pressure. This outrageous car has enough boost pressure to power four such sports cars. The track version’s dragster-style gearbox exists solely because conventional transmissions would disintegrate under the 5,090 Nm of torque.

Design

The Devel Sixteen’s design screams Dubai. Its sharp, angular bodywork blends right in with the knife-edge geometry of the Burj Khalifa. Inside, it’s a cocktail of leather, Alcantara, and carbon fiber with just enough brushed aluminum to remind you this isn’t your average supercar. Some buyers opt for Arabic calligraphy embroidered into the headrests, too. The car even features a “Sand Mode”, as a tribute to its homeland. While Lamborghinis and Ferraris were designed for smooth Italian asphalt, the Sixteen acknowledges its origins with specific traction settings for desert driving.

Availability & Pricing

Made in limited quantities by Italy’s Manifattura Automobili Torino (only 50 will ever exist), the Sixteen represents proof that the Middle East can produce engineering that makes European supercar manufacturers nervous. The car is built on an aerospace-grade aluminum chassis with carbon fiber throughout, was tested on Dubai-Abu Dhabi highways, and features optional 24K gold-plated engine components. Such extravagance could only emerge from Dubai. The car starts at approximately $1.8 million before options.
