The GMA T.50 – 12,000 RPM!

1 min read

The Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 is a defiant celebration of pure driving pleasure in a world obsessed with electric vehicles and self-driving cars. This supercar isn’t your typical status symbol —it’s a meticulously engineered love letter to enthusiasts. With the best power-to-weight ratio in its class, and its mind-boggling engine, this car is sure to get your gears shifting.

Engine & Powertrain

The T.50 packs a 3.9L naturally aspirated V12 developed by Cosworth. No turbochargers, no hybrid systems; just pure naturally aspirated 654 BHP delivered at an insane 11,500 RPM. If that isn’t enough, it’s also the highest-revving road-legal car on the market, maxing out at a mind-blowing 12,100 RPM.

Design & Chassis

But here’s where it gets interesting—the entire car weighs just 986 KG (about as much as a Maruti Swift), giving it a power-to-weight ratio that would put most hypercars to shame. How did they achieve this? A carbon-fiber monocoque weighing just 100 KG and liberal use of titanium components throughout. The T.50 has a 400mm rear-mounted fan that creates ground effects without the need for massive wings ruining the car’s clean lines. It’s like having invisible downforce, keeping the car planted without making it overwhelming.

In an era where supercars are stuffed with computers and automation, the T.50 proudly offers a six-speed manual transmission. No paddle shifters, no automatic transmission; just you, a stick, and three pedals. The suspension uses passive dampers with adjustable settings from R53 Suspension. The forged alloy wheels (19-inch front, 20-inch rear) complete the package, improving aerodynamics while being the lightest in their class.

Launch & Availability

All this engineering excellence comes at a cost; £2.36 million before taxes, to be precise. Production began in January 2022, with customer deliveries ongoing. But, taking into consideration the sheer exclusivity and the attention to detail (the V12 engine alone weighs just 178 kg, making it the world’s lightest road car V12), the price tag almost seems… reasonable? Only 100 of these cars are to be made, making them extremely rare. They will likely appreciate as they age, becoming sought-after collector’s items.
