Upcoming Porsche 911 992.2 Turbo S – What We Know

1 min read

The Turbo S model from the current Porsche 911 range has been the fastest and most premium Turbo S. As all 992 generation variants start receiving a facelift, the Turbo S will receive one shortly, and the model has been testing at the Nurburgring for more than 2 years now, aiming for GT2RS power figures! Here’s what we know about the upcoming Porsche 911 992.2 Turbo S

What’s New?

The new Turbo S will arrive with a newer design, with rounder intakes, no separate daytime running lights, and a brand new rear wing. The tail lamps will be new as well as seen on the other facelifted 911 Models. At the rear, the changes appear to be more comprehensive. For a start, the exhaust tips appear to have moved further apart and are no longer housed within the rear diffuser trim panel. Air outlets that previously had flanked this diffuser panel now appear to have disappeared for the current time being, and the rear bumper reflectors have been resculpted to match. The diffuser panel itself is closed on this development mule, but there’s a good chance that the vented design of the 992.1 Turbo may be carried over.

The most obvious change is to the rear spoiler, which appears to have morphed into a wing. Rather than a flat panel atop an adaptive spoiler, the 992.2 has added winglets to its spoiler’s base element, now topped by a more sharply angled wing with a support on either side of the wing. As before, the third brake light is integrated into the spoiler. As for what we can expect under the rear hood, reports highly suggest an electrified power courtesy of the 911 GTS T-Hybrid system will appear for the first time, but only on the range-topping Turbo S.

Powertrain

The 2025 Porsche 911 GTS T-Hybrid introduces a performance-focused hybrid powertrain that enhances both power and efficiency. This system incorporates an electric exhaust gas turbocharger, which features an electric motor placed between the compressor and turbine wheel. This setup allows for rapid spool-up, reducing turbo lag and improving throttle response. Additionally, the electric motor acts as a generator, producing up to 15 BHP from the exhaust gas flow.

This system might show up in the upcoming Turbo S, boasting over 700 BHP with an AWD system, which will make the acceleration of this car even better.

Verdict

The exact launch date of the facelifted Turbo S is still not confirmed, but it might be revealed by the end of 2025. This new facelifted Turbo S will come with even more power and will have better acceleration than before, thanks to its new hybrid system. Only time will tell how fast and how much better this new Turbo S will be.
