Volvo plans a major product expansion over the next few years. The Swedish automaker will launch 13 new vehicles worldwide by 2030. The lineup will include fully electric models and third-generation hybrids. Volvo also hints at new body styles, including potential station wagons.

Volvo Plans 13 New Models

Volvo describes the plan as its largest global product offensive in the company’s 99-year history. The automaker will develop six models for China. Seven more vehicles will target Western markets. These models will use Volvo’s SPA2 and SPA3 platforms. The SPA2 architecture already supports the Volvo EX90 and Polestar 3. Volvo’s newer SPA3 platform also underpins the upcoming EX60.

New Body Styles Could Join The Lineup

Volvo says the new lineup will include vehicles in new segments. The company also mentioned “new low & high body types” during its presentation. The low-body models could include sedans and station wagons. Volvo has not confirmed either body style yet. However, the comments match earlier reports about new electric cars. Those reports suggest that Volvo plans to expand beyond its current SUV-heavy lineup.

Electric Wagon Could Arrive In 2028

Automotive News previously reported that Volvo was developing an electric sedan and wagon for the U.S. market. The two models could receive the ES60 and EV60 names. Reports suggest a 2028 launch. Both vehicles could use the SPA3 platform. Their expected starting prices could sit in the low-$50,000 range in the U.S. Volvo could also launch a compact electric SUV. The reported EX50 could replace the recently discontinued EX40.

Volvo Could Return To Its Wagon Roots

Station wagons remain an important part of Volvo’s history. The company built its reputation with models such as the 240 during the 1970s and 1980s.

The 850 T-5R later added a performance-focused image to Volvo’s wagon lineup. SUVs eventually replaced wagons as the preferred family-car format. Volvo has since reduced its wagon range in several markets. The V60 and V90 will reportedly leave the U.S. lineup after the 2026 model year.

New Wagons Could Focus On Electric Power

Volvo’s future wagons could return with electric power. The approach would give the brand a way to combine traditional wagon practicality with its expanding EV range.

The company has not confirmed the specifications of any new wagon. Battery capacity, power output and driving range remain unknown. The upcoming models could also receive Volvo’s latest safety and cabin technology.

Prices In The Middle East

Volvo has not announced Middle East pricing for its potential electric wagons. The company has also not confirmed regional availability. If these models reach the UAE, Saudi Arabia or other Middle Eastern markets, local specifications and pricing could differ from the U.S. Volvo should reveal more information as the 2030 product rollout progresses.

Volvo’s Wagon Future

Volvo’s upcoming product offensive could significantly expand its lineup. The company plans 13 global launches by 2030, with several new segments under consideration. A new electric wagon would also reconnect Volvo with one of its most recognisable body styles.

The company has yet to confirm the model. However, its reference to low-body vehicles and recent reports point toward a possible wagon revival.
