Zeekr 7X – A Supercar, And A Crossover?

1 min read

The Zeekr 7X doesn’t whisper change—it beams it in all caps across a 16-million-colour “Stargate” LCD light bar. Geely’s electric upstart has laid down a clean, calculated marker in the EV race, and it’s pointed directly at the Tesla Model Y.

Architecture & Platform

Built on Geely’s SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) 800V platform, the 7X is engineered with precision. At its most powerful variant, a dual-motor AWD variant delivers 475 kW or 637 BHP, launching the SUV from 0 to 100 km/h in 3 seconds flat. The car is electronically limited to a top speed of 240 KM/H. Battery choices include 75 kWh and 100 kWh lithium-ion packs, offering a rated range between 605 and 780 kilometres. With 800V fast charging, you get 255 km of juice in just five minutes.

Design

Design-wise, the 7X leans into a concept Zeekr calls “Hidden Energy”. It’s less about flash and more about flow—clamshell hood lines, frameless mirrors, and a low, sculpted roofline all play a role in aerodynamic efficiency. The front is dominated by a “Stargate” display, a programmable light bar that can project messages or animations—equal parts tech and theatre. Along the side, a “golden ratio” arc shapes the silhouette with mathematical elegance. Around the back, the floating “streamer” taillights wrap into a clean, sculpted tail capped by an integrated spoiler. It’s sleek, wide, and unmistakably premium.

Interior

Inside, Zeekr didn’t compromise. The 7X offers Nappa leather seating with full climate control, ventilation, heating, and 14-way massage functions. Rear passengers aren’t an afterthought: their seats recline, extend, and even come with their own LED-screen climate controls embedded in the armrest. Colour schemes range from a bold purple/white combo to classic black-on-gray or full black interiors.

The infotainment setup is restrained but potent, with a 16-inch ultra-slim fixed touchscreen powered by a Snapdragon processor. Importantly, physical buttons remain for essential functions like air recirculation and tailgate access. It’s not trying to reinvent the wheel—just to make it smarter. Cargo space? A healthy 765 litres, expandable via folding rear seats.

Pricing & Launch

In terms of feel, the Zeekr 7X delivers Scandinavian simplicity with Chinese efficiency. Its design was honed at Zeekr’s Swedish Global Design Centre, bringing European polish to its tech-first, China-born ethos. Priced from ¥269,000 (~ USD 37,000) in China, it undercuts rivals while matching them in spec. International pricing is yet to be locked, but expectations put it in Tesla Model Y territory ($45,000–USD 60,000). With 20,000 non-refundable pre-orders in just 18 days, the market has spoken loudly.
