The 1991 NA1 Acura NSX

For AED 574,700, you can get your hands on a 1991 Acura NSX in the legendary Formula Red colour.

Here are the main specs of this beast from the 1990s

  • Mileage: 15,800 km
  • Engine: 3.0L Honda C30A V6, naturally aspirated
  • Power: 270 HP @ 7300 RPM
  • Torque: 284 Nm @ 6500 RPM
  • Transmission: 5-speed manual
  • Weight: 1410kgs (curb weight)

The NSX is a testament to peak Honda engineering and grit. The attention to detail, both above and under the skin of this car, is out of this world. This car was initially envisioned to run on 2 slightly separate compounds of tires at the front and the rear. Such is the granularity level that went into this sports car’s making!

Ayrton Senna was a part of the NSX’s development, and his inputs led the engineering team to come up with an even stiffer aluminium chassis setup that can handle the corners better and inspire confidence within the driver.

This car shaped the future of JDM cars and other halo cars that came after the NSX. This car’s cultural capital makes it incredibly valuable in the market.

This particular model is a North American edition, hence the Acura branding. It was first delivered in Brookefield, Wisconsin, from where it moved onto Tomini Classics at Tuscon, Arizona. It was then bought by an owner in Dubai in 2019, and possession was returned to Tomini back in 2020.

Our Take

For 574,000, this NSX is quite an expensive ask. However, this car is an NA1, the 1st generation, the 1st model year. Moreover, it has low mileage and has been very well maintained. Hondas are reliable, so one can be sure that there is plenty of life left in this classic.

Therefore one would be hard-pressed to find a better option in this category if they are looking for a 1990s JDM classic to buy.
