Find Of The Week: 1960 Mercedes-Benz 190

48 sec read

At AED 799,000, you can get your hands on a 1960, Euro specification Mercedes-Benz 190. The 190 represents Mercedes at its most classic time. The design language, and the flowing lines all represent immense german craftsmanship.

Here are the main things you should know about this Benz!

  • Mileage: 74,300 km
  • Engine: M121, 1.9L 4-Cylinder engine
  • Power: 104HP @ 5,700RPM
  • Torque: 142NM @ 3,200RPM
  • Transmission: 4-Speed Manual
  • Weight: 1,180kg (With hardtop on)

The 190/190SL stood as an affordable alternative to the legendary Mercedes Benz 300SL. Both cars are similarly styled, however, the 190 does miss out on those upwards opening doors!

This particular unit still runs well, and seems to be under good condition. We are not aware of the ownership history, or when this car was last serviced, if it has been restored at any point in time.

Our Take

Despite the special design and looks of the car, the asking price of AED 799,000 is still on the higher side of the spectrum. Also, for a car that is collector status, 74,300 km on the odo is still a lot. However the M121 spec engine, in general has not shown any glimpses of serious unreliability in any of the models it has been present.

If the price can be lowered, then the 190 serves to be a wonderful example of 1960s German engineering at its best!
